After Us: Enemy design Killer Drone
The concept of Killer Drone is that it is a cold blooded killing machine. It always be used as an expendable supply to clean the battle field. Simply made to kill. Imagine that when a landing craft break into enemy’s mother ship then release hundreds of killer drones to inboard to destroy everything they can see.
I had chosen the 7th thumbnail because I think it could be designed as a folding device. When it folded the shape could be smoother and simpler, Which I think could helpfully to show their technique level.
Then I made a rough model in Maya to figure to help me to explore the details of the concept.

In the world of After Us creatures are an important part to show how much the technology will change our environment and ecosystem. In this future apocalypse gene technology has rebuilt the surface of the ecosystem. Conceit made scientists believe they have the power to make everything under control, but economic benefits lead everything to a mess.

Enemy: an alien species
When I started to create the enemy there are a few principles I tried to establish before I start.
1. They should neither simply bad nor evil, the reason they become enemy is that they have conflicts of interest with our side.
2. Their culture and technology goes a different direction compare with us.
3. The body structure is different with life on earth.
Then I got some sketches of them.
Left two has flexible limbs, and right two has heavy armor.
I felt like I found the right direction for the species, Them I made more thumbnails of it to try to explore different body structure and functions. For the consideration of rigging and animation I was still trying to keep them as human like structure.
I chose the second one from right to do some some further exploration.
This one has a few unique features.
1. Flexible limbs
2. Two flexible auxilliary limbs, Start from armpit expend to waist, could be used to carry materials or weapons or hold a shield.
3. Apathetic appearance
4. The alien is actually in the chest of the body, the body just its exoskeleton like a battle suit.
The background of this suit is this alien species travel a new system, then they will use the structure of the strongest species in the system to build their battle suit, that's why the suit has human outline.

After Us vehicle and weapon.
In next few weeks days I did some further exploration of the landing ship and motorcycle, I considered more about the conditions and environments which those two vehicles will be used. And also functions because I believe the form should be decided by the function. Especially for industrial design.
In the landing ship design I emphasized on the concept it could land on all kinds of terrain, so its limbs are all designed strong and flexible, they could be folded into the body of the ship to reduce resistance. Though about the ship probably needs to fly in both space and atmosphere, I designed four foldable wings, as in space it doesn't need wings, in atmosphere it needs wings to control and be more stable.
In the design of motorcycle I considered the safety could be very important. As the female character will live on the abandoned earth, and adverse environment, that's why a cabin is very necessary for her to isolate dangerous outside of the motorcycle. It also has to be a tough and advanced motorcycle for her to travel in the future world, I tried to combine those ideas into the design.
In the meanwhile I finished the design of an alien rescue capsule and explored some weapon designs. By working on these designs I also got a way to think deeper and from different perspectives of the world which I am building.
The electromagnetic rifle is for future human race, represents our technique level.
Bio rifle is for enemy alien race.

After Us Vehicle Design 1.
Vehicle Design 1.
I explored the design of vehicles by making some random figures. One of my most interested concept is the bug like landing ship. In this idea I felt I can explore some very reasonable designs for it, those limbs provide an ability which allowed the ship can land on complex terrain, this ability could be very useful for military transport or force delivery. And this shape provides a more offensive feeling.
A motorcycle for female character.
In the beginning I didn't know what I really want to for the girl. So I made some random figures to find out. I thought I wanted something could help the girl survive under a very tough environment. I found an interesting shape, after one day working on it, I got a motorcycle. A new universe-After Us

I made a short background story named After Us, a story for a 3d person shooter game.
After Us
Summary
An alien pilot survives the destruction of his spacecraft (destroyed by an opposing alien race). His escape capsule lands him on an unknown planet. In the landing process, sensors on his escape capsule detects that around his landing area there are a lot of artifacts (like buildings), one of them far from his landing area still has an energy reaction. After he lands on the planet, he discovers that those artifacts are actually ruins, that used to be a civilization, but have since been abandoned by their creators. He finds that a lot of wild animals living around the area, some of them are dangerouÄs carnivores. He has to protect himself. He starts off to find the artifact which has energy reaction, hopefully he can find something helpful that can give him a chance to leave this forsaken planet. When he arrives at his destination, it is actually a jail that the native species built to lock up the remaining power sources, which somehow lead them to abandoned their homeworld. The alien pilot will encounter many savage animals and drones sent from the enemy to kill him.
To build a reliable character I need more reasonable design, as the old design was for low-res model, so some designs are not good enough for a more realistic game, I need a lot modification of the character, then I was working in zbrush to create more details for the pilot. First, I changed the design of its boy especially most joines like shoulders and knees to made those structures match with the head design. I brought more exoskeleton to its body, those exoskeleton also covered by skin. Another big change was its chest, in the old design mouth was on chest and stomach, but I realized that such structure could be very disadvantage if the they do some waist movement like turn round or bend its body, as those teeth are not that flexible. So I changed that design. Now the mouth won't become a problem of waist movement, and still an unique new structure.
Then I have had been working on to give the pilot a cloth, a suit, which it can wear in normal time. I don't want the suit looks too offensive, but a suit which is function heavy and could plug in extra function part like armor.
In the armor layer I spent most energy to explore how to design a function heavy armor in zbrush, but I still have a lot work to do to figure out the design language which can express the unique culture and aesthetics of the alien species.
At meanwhile I was thought about the design of the female character. As in the story she is a mysterious person and she own some lost future human technology. When I was working on her I was trying to build an alien-like suit for her, as I think after hundreds of years our technology and aesthetics will look totally different from today, so I want to try to go a little bit farther to fulfill this idea.
